Level of difficulty: easy
At the Rhine river there lived dragons - so the legend says. The shawl by Melanie Berg reminds us with its earthy-fiery colours of the dragon of lore and a slipped garter colourwork pattern resembles scales. It is worked in garter stitch from tip to edge, then neatly finished with an I-cord bind-off. Asymmetrical increases create an elongated triangle shape and the soft Cheeky Merino Joy will caress your neck.
You need 3 skeins of Cheeky Merino Joy (1 skein per colour). The shawls in the images are knitted with the colours Cornish Slate (95 g), Isar Pebble (86 g) and
Edelweiss (95 g
) resp. Coffee Bean, Wild Mallow (have been discontinued meanwhile) and Ruby. The indicated yarn quantities apply according to the gauge.
Needles: US 6 (4 mm) circular needle approx. 40" (100 cm) long and US 8 (5 mm) double pointed or circular needles for the I-cord-bind-off. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
